David Elkind, Ph.D.

David is currently Professor Emeritus of Child Development at Tufts University. In conjunction with his esteemed academic posts and honors, Elkind’s research has focused on perceptual, cognitive and social development where he has worked to build upon the research and theory of Jean Piaget. Professor Elkind is well known for his popular books, The Hurried Child, All Grown Up and No Place to Go, Miseducation and The Power of Play: Learning What comes Naturally.

Elise B. Clark

Using the unit blocks that are the basis of City and Country School's play-based, interdisciplinary curriculum, Elise has helped design programs, teach classes, and instruct a course at Bank Street College of Education relating to ways classic play and open-ended materials facilitate cognitive, creative and social learning. Elise received her M.S. in Education from Bank Street, and her B.A. from George Washington University.
Stephen Gass
Stephen has over twenty years of design and development experience in children's media. Trained as a child psychologist, Stephen began his career as an elementary school teacher. Currently, Stephen serves as president of every baby company, founded to develop early learning products, for infants and toddlers. Stephen received a B.A. in psychology from New York University, and an M.A. in developmental psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Jane Clark Chermayeff

Jane is an educator, author, and exhibition developer and the founder of a firm that focuses on visitor-centered exhibitions and creative environments for learning. One of her most recent projects has been leading a team of science educators and play specialists to transform a hundred New York City schoolyards into science playgrounds as part of Mayor Bloomberg's PlaNYC Schoolyards to Playgrounds city initiative.
